After Steve joined the family firm of Lockside Engineering as a motor engineer he soon followed his father Jim into racing.
Steve began his racing career in 1993 and quickly started to make his mark. Racing at all of the major circuits Steve had an impressive record of eleven podium finishes at the Isle of Man TT. He took third place in the 1999 British Championship and won the British F1 Championship in 2006. Steve also became a regular in the World F1 Superside Championship where he came into his own with the big sidecars, achieving many top finishes throughout the World F1 Championships.
Steve was a highly competitive racer throughout his career. He sadly lost his life in Hockenheim in 2008 at an IDM German round.
It was such a privilege to work for him and the team. He will be sadly missed as a friend and team-mate.
RIP – 2008
